iPads for education? | Teacher's Monthly - 3 views

  • Elkanah have a set of iPads that roam around from class to class. Both schools found it important for the teachers to be acquainted with the technology before the learners began using it in school. Elkanah provided teachers with iPads six months before implementing the system with learners. Stadler found that this approach worked best and that hands-on staff training was very important. Collaborative Whiteboard Apps for the Classroom - 14 views

"Interactive and collaborative - Whiteboards are a great way for teachers to explain concepts to their students. With the ability of some iPad apps to record, you ensure that students who did not develop understanding of the concept the first time have the opportunity to watch and listen again and again. Working in small groups or brainstorming as a class, collaborative whiteboards are a great way to share ideas. Work in the same room, on the same network or even from different parts of the country. No matter what you are working on these interactive whiteboards are a great way to document or record your thinking process. "

Apps in Education: Are We Really Evaluating the Use of iPads in Our Classroom - 3 views

  •
"One of the things we need to be doing as educators is to critically evaluate the resources and learning experiences that we provide for our students. This is even more important when we are spending vast sums of public money to implement new or innovative hardware devices into our schools. At the moment only short term studies have been released showing the benefits or not of using 1:1 tablet programs. There are few that are easily accessible to teachers or that outline specific strategies for implementing tablet programs. It would good to create a collection of these if people are aware of them. Send them through and I will add them to this article. These could even be cited when making the argument for implementing such programs. "
