"Everything Butt Art is a wonderful series of books that started showing up in stores less than a year ago. The concept (ahem…) behind the book works well in almost any form, but it really becomes magical once you see it on the iPad - and now you can. It's part book and part drawing app, and it teaches step-by-step drawing with a twist, as all the drawings start with a butt shape (a rounded lowercase w)."

iSink U is based on the classic naval strategy game and is sure to rekindle many fond childhood memories of this classic gaming style. In the game, the player becomes the captain and must command a squadron of powerful ships to obliterate the enemy. Once each captain has had the chance to strategically position his armada, the battle begins! Players take turns and decide whether to move a ship, fire a weapon, or unleash a series of bombs.

"Preparing for a guest blog for Computer Explorers on the topic of "How Can iPads Support Literacy?", I spent some time looking for a few of my favorite titles of the "I Like…" series in the app store to determine which ones were currently free. And do you know what I found? Not one… but 37 Books in 1 for… free."

"Science is one of those subjects that really excite students because they get to see cause and effect, they get to create, record and then document results and they get to manipulate the variables that produce the data. Students then get to make connections between what they do and the real world. Add an iPad, a series of carefully chosen apps and a couple of probes and you can make all of these observations happen in a mobile environment - outside, at home or even on an excursion. I would love to be a student in a classroom with these tools!"
