How 'Big Three' Publishers Are Approaching iPad Textbooks -- THE Journal - 0 views

  • As digital and mobile technologies assume a growing role in classrooms around the country, the stalwart textbook has remained largely analog. But this past January, Apple turned heads when it expanded its iPad bookseller, iBookstore, to include textbooks in partnership with the three largest K-12 publishers, who, together, are responsible for around 90 percent of textbook sales in the market.

VoiceThread Mobile for Apple® iDevices - 7 views

  •
VoiceThread Mobile for Apple® iDevices VoiceThread bridges the gap between real-time discussions and static multi-media slideshows, making it the platform for on-demand teaching, learning, training, and collaborating. We are working with the lofty goal of true accessibility so that any "door" used to access VoiceThread is equally effective for your means of participation. "We want to serve the needs of a person with dyslexia or ADHD, an outdoor classroom with mobile devices, a user in the developing world without high-speed internet, a kindergartner, or an elderly lifelong learner." (Read more) With that goal in mind, we'll be releasing a Mobile App this fall for the iPad®/iPhone®/iPod touch® that will provide the same experience of creating and collaborating around your content on your Mobile device that you would experience in the web-based application... and we're pretty excited about that! Take a look, and tell us what you think.

iPadsELA - iPads in Eanglash/Language Arts - 4 views

This wiki was created for an iPad workshop at ESSDACK in Hutchinson, KS on October 18, 2011 by Judy Beam and Mary Frazier. You'll notice the pages of this wiki (on the left hand side) are the Common Core Standards. We have placed iPad apps on each page that might help your students learn that concept. There will be overlap - one app may meet more than one standard. Please leave comments, suggest apps, or share your experiences in the discussion tab of the appropriate page.

Bib 2.0: Ipad Listening Centers @ Your Library! - 0 views

  • Create a series of book reviews/trailers, have "guest readers" of stories or poems, or any other audio/video cast you'd like.  Load them on the iPad (on several iPads, if you're lucky enough!) with an eye-catching graphic icon. (I'll post a mini tutorial below on how to change the icon for those who don't know.)

  •
This wiki is intended to be a clearinghouse of applications, lessons ideas and experiences using the iPad in the classroom. The intention is that all apps listed have been tested and recommended by teachers using them. The Apps pages are generally created using google docs spreadsheets, feel free to update the wiki or the spreadsheets. (A link is provided on each page for the spreadsheets... at least the ones I've started working on...) At this point, as a high school science teacher, most of the apps I've recommended and investigated are geared to this level. Some can be used at any level. I invite you to add pages dedicated to your areas of interest and expertise if they are not already listed here. I would love to see a section on Literature and Language and Elementary Skills added to the wiki along with additions to any of the currently developed spreadsheets. It would also be sweet to share specific lessons or ideas for applications and activities.
