Crude oil for July delivery is trading down 50 cents at USD 95.68 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Yesterday, the June contract lost 55 cents, or 0.6 percent, to settle at USD 96.16 a barrel. The June contract expired at the end of the Nymex trading session. July became the front-month contract. Gold futures declined on Monday, as strength in the dollar and worries that the US Federal Reserve will ease back on its easy monetary policy, pushed precious metals prices down for the third straight session. Gold holdings of SPDR gold trust, the largest ETF backed by the precious metal, declined to 1,051.65 tons, as on May 10. Silver holdings of ishares silver trust, the largest ETF backed by the metal, increased to 10,440.4 tons, as on May 8. China is key to commodity market performance and signs of a slowdown have affected the commodities in 2013.

Copper Updates: Copper in Shanghai declined on speculation that Chinese leaders' tolerance for a slower growth rate will curb demand growth at the largest user. Metal for delivery in September fell as much as 1.3 % to 52,230 yuan ($8,523) a metric ton on the Shanghai Futures Exchange and was at 52,560 yuan. Net-short positions, held by funds fell to 9,033 futures and options contracts as of May 21 from 13,115 a week earlier.. MCX Crude Oil June expiry contract is forming a double top at 5400 range and neckline is there at 5160 on daily chart, while it's also forming an H&S pattern on 4hourly chart with neckline near 5190. Gold closed same as day before yesterday at $1386, as the advance was contained by the Fibonacci retracement levels at $1425. This is the 38.2% retracement of the decline of the April high of $1590. While the downtrend is still very much there but the trend is weakening as gold slowly moves higher. Still, we are neutral as we are trading within its range. Silver also closed at $21.81, but the trading volume is still low. At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for December 2012 contract closed at Rs. 3,860 per quintal tonnes, up by 2.01 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,790 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,784.

Gold futures were trading lower on domestic exchanges after the rupee shed early losses and strengthened against the dollar.
