24 April Sensex falls over 100 pts; banks drag, ONGC supports The stock market trading shows bearish behavior; Sensex falls 116 points in early trade while nifty down arond the 50 points dragged by financial & banking sector and infrastructure. Sensex traded at 27620.73, High - 27829.11, Low - 27578.45 Nifty traded at 8354.00, High - 8413.30, Low - 8342.60 Shares of HDFC, Infosys, Axis Bank, L&T, Maruti Suzuki, HUL, M&M, Cipla and Bajaj Auto fell 1-2 percent followed by ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank with marginal loss. However, ITC and ONGC bucked the trend, rising over a percent and show gains in stock market trading.

The market extended its southward journey for the second trading session of the October month with the Sensex falling 296.02 points or 1.11 percent to 26271.97 on Tuesday. The Nifty closed way below the 7900, down 93.15 points or 1.17 percent to 7852.40. About 1120 shares advanced while 1762 shares declined on the BSE. Hindalco Industries, Sesa Sterlite, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs, HDFC, DLF, Jindal Steel and Cairn India were top losers, falling 3-6 percent while NTPC, Gail India and Power Grid bucked the trend, up 1-1.5 percent followed by Tata Motors, Wipro and Tata Power with marginal gains. Gold futures are trading marginally higher in Asia electronic trades today on strength in US dollar after last weeks hammering on pale payrolls data.

Currently MCX gold is trading around Rs 29370 with marginal gains of 0.15 percent. Brent crude has come down to $ 110. NYMEX even with the decline in crude oil is traded. Today the American Petroleum Institute figures are coming. The eyes of the market rests on the OPEC report. The 0.3 per cent on MCX crude oil is trading above Rs 4990 with. The Stock market trading ended with marginal loss after showed volatility in the market. The Sensex was down 55.08 points at 26468.01 and Nifty was down 28.10 points at 8016.05. Cipla touch bottom fell 3 percent followed by Dr Reddy lab's Sun Pharma, Bajaj Auto, and Wipro were the laggard in the Sensex while Hindalco, Vedanta, HUL, ICICI Bank and Tata Power were the toppers.

Gold futures on MCX were trading marginally up, mostly factoring the fall in rupee against the dollar, even as parent contract on COMEX was slightly down, continuing its consolidation in the range of $10 an ounce. Gold is flat on rise in risk appetite in global markets. Weakness in dollar, however, averted fall in global gold prices, though weak rupee marginally pushed up domestic prices....
