Abstract The World Wide Web uses relatively simple technologies with sufficient scalability, efficiency and utility that they have resulted in a remarkable information space of interrelated resources, growing across languages, cultures, and media. In an effort to preserve these properties of the information space as the technologies evolve, this architecture document discusses the core design components of the Web. They are identification of resources, representation of resource state, and the protocols that support the interaction between agents and resources in the space. We relate core design components, constraints, and good practices to the principles and properties they support. Status of this document This section describes the status of this document at the time of its publication. Other documents may supersede this document.   • From the early history of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) experts have acknowledged that Linguistics is one of the disciplines contributing to it. If one of the goals of HCI is to produce usable systems, then linguistics has also a role to play in web interface and web usability though this may not have been officially acknowledged yet.

Audiamus Versions 1 and 2 - 0 views

  • Audiamus  Versions 1 and 2 A tool for building corpora of linked transcripts and digitised media. Nick Thieberger November 2007 thien@unimelb.edu.au Overview Audiamus is a tool developed in the course of writing a grammatical description of South Efate. The need for a special tool arose in the absence of a simple method to work interactively with digitised ethnographic field tapes via their transcripts. It is designed with the key principles of reusability of and accessibility to the data, and with the basic premise that every example quoted in the grammar should be provenanced to an archival source if possible. A sample workflow for using Audiamus is outlined below. It shows that media is time-aligned, then added to the Audiamus corpus from where it can be exported to Shoebox while maintaining timecodes. Audiamus is not a transcription tool!
