  • Tags help you find and organize your bookmarks by letting you select all of your bookmarks with a certain tag or combination of tags. Quickly add relevant tags to a bookmark by clicking on any of the recommended tags that appear under the description field on the “Save Bookmark” pop-up. When you are satisfied with the information in the “Save Bookmark” pop-up, click the “Save Bookmark” button. Now a link to the page is stored in your Diigo library, and the information you entered is stored with it.
  • Highlight Highlighting lets you denote important information on a page, just like highlighting in a book, but with Diigo, the highlighted text will be conveniently saved to your library as well. There are some important things for me to denote on my recipe. My wife doesn’t like pineapple, my grandfather can’t have eggs or chocolate, and I don’t like coconut very much, so I highlight those items on the recipe to let me know I need to deal with them. Highlight by clicking “Highlight” on the Diigolet. Then select the text you want to highlight. The text will be visually highlighted and the text is now stored in your library. It’s that easy. Click the button again to exit highlighter mode. You can also change the color of a highlight by clicking the downward-pointing arrow next to “Highlight” and choosing a color. Colors are useful for differentiating different types of highlights. I will use a different color for each of the different people I need to consider.
  • To add a sticky note to a highlight, simply move your mouse cursor over a highlight. When the little pop-up tab with the pencil on it appears, move the cursor to it and a menu will appear. Choose “Add Sticky Notes”. Now you can type and post a sticky note just like before, but this time it will be tied to the highlighted text.

    I found this article perfect because it relates to what we are presently doing in class. Basically, it is describing how popular iPads are becoming in classrooms and how younger students are using them as well. It gives a list of the to six apps for creative writing. This is useful information because some student have a hard time writing down ideas on paper, or even writing at all. These apps could help students think of ideas, strategies, and give them useful tips for writing. This article shows technology integration in classrooms through the use of iPads.

    I found a great article about using iPad Apps to enhance creative writing for students. Some students struggle with writing. Often, they have difficulty formulating their ideas and putting the pen to paper. For these students, writing is daunting task. However, this article highlights 6 useful Apps that can help to promote and inspire students to create their own narratives.     Report Comments Bank is a Google extension app for educators. The app helps teachers shorten the amount of time to write progress reports and it allows teachers to create, save and edit reports throughout the year. Being able to save the reports throughout the year also saves teachers hours from creating end of the year reports. The app is quick and easy to learn and saves teachers a lot of time from writing report cards. This app would be helpful for us because it would help future educators complete reports on time and also have more time to create lesson plans. Reviewers rate this app with five stars for how convenient and how easy it is to use.

    This looks like a great extension. Teachers time seems to always be stretched very thin. By helping teachers save more time they can put more time into classroom lessons and activities. I agree that this is a beneficial extension for any teacher.

    Wow, that's extremely useful in many ways! Of course any way to save time for a teacher is key. But this also gives the teacher an easy way to track progress of individual students, and really see what areas they shine or need an extra push in. I could also see this as a great way to pass a student off to the next grade level. Upon the new school year, it would be great to give a comprehensive report of the students prior year to each teacher they are starting with. This way, if the student is experiencing the same struggles, there might be a different solution the new teacher can use, or if something worked in the past they could try that method again!

    I really like the readability extension they offer. Its nice to not be distracted by flashing ads when all you want to do is read an article on the internet. It is probably even tougher for high school students or younger to concentrate. It is a nice feature to keep them productive.
