Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently posted their sales figure for the month of July. The company managed to sell 13,592 vehicles last month, in comparison to the 6,834 vehicles it sold in the same period last year. The sales of the company increased by almost 99% in comparison to the sales growth in June 2010.

The Indian auto sales have taken a hit ever since the hike in lending and fuel rates a couple of months ago. One of India's biggest auto company's, Tata Motors was also hit badly, with the company registering bad sales for the month of July.

Maruti Suzuki saw low sales in July, aided further as the company halted production of the Swift. As the new Swift variant gets ready to launch in August, the sale are expected to increase further. In fact, the new Swift variant is expected to replace WagonR as the industry and Maruti's highest selling car following the Alto, which sells 18,000 units per month.

The government regulations in 2006 specified that small cars below the 4 meter mark should have 1.2 liter petrol engines and diesel engined cars should have a cubic capacity not exceeding 1.5 liters.
