FOMC - Closing months of speculation, observation and for the 1st time in the decade, the US Fed Reserve's rate-setting Fed Open Market Committee (FOMC) increased its Fed Funds Rate by 25 basis pts from the 0-0.25 per-cent range to a target of 0.25-0.5 per-cent.

The Nifty was trading soft on the first day of the new derivatives expiry. Profit booking by the traders dragged Nifty below 5900 after the benchmark index rallied close to 350 points in the last seven trading sessions.

Castorseed prices ended lower by 1.57 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of fresh supply of the commodity in the major mandies as well as strong production estimates for the current year.

MCX Gold Weekly Analysis On a weekly basis, gold prices gained by almost 0.8 percent on the international markets and by 2.0 percent on the MCX. The yellow metal touched a high of $ 1597.40/oz and closed its trading session at $ 1591.80/oz last week.
