Thanks for that, Demetri! I'm working with a teacher who is having her students adopt Civil War era persona and write letters to the editor in response to articles on http;//prosepoint.empowered-teacher.com that take positions on the slavery question.

The students will be putting up profiles later in the week (example: http://prosepoint.empowered-teacher.com/writers/horace-greeley) that look very much like your facebook model.

I think adding a Facebook profile assignment for extra credit might be fun - just tweak the look of the profiles to resemble facebook and turn on Drupal's "private messaging" and "friend" modules so students can send messages to and from each other and establish friend links.
