As per a report from the USCIS, a combined total of 223,000 US H-1B visa petitions have been obtained throughout the filing period even as the same covers the numbers for advanced degree exemption applications also. The numbers illustrate a swell of over 60,000 over the previous year.

Different centres of the US Citizenship and Immigration Service are finding it rather tricky to process L-1, and the H-1B Visa extension petitions, in the process, leading to persistent delays.

H-1B Visa Category is a non immigrant and dual intent visa. Initially, it is issued for six years, and at later stage, the applicant may apply for US Permanent Residency.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has reportedly declared that the upper limit for the H-1B Cap has hit the limit for the financial year 2016 even while it has obtained over 20,000 applications for the visa under the exempted class of the Advanced Degree.
