The ' checklist mentality ' is something very common among teachers and educators. We use checklists alot in our work and I personally find them very effective in getting things organized. I use them not only with my students but in my day to day life as well.  I have a checklist  for my MEd courses in university, another one for blog posts to write about for the next day and so on.

With more and more of the world's content online, it is critical that students understand how to effectively use web search to find quality sources appropriate to their task. We've created a series of lessons to help you guide your students to use search meaningfully in their schoolwork and beyond. Our search literacy lessons help you meet the new Common Core State Standards and are broken down based on level of expertise in search: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Just bringing new technology in your classroom and working it into day-to-day routines isn't enough. Here are five lessons I've learned about redefining classroom instruction with technology-whether iPads or other tools...

 This application lets you invite friends into a private chat room via a simple Tweet. This is amazing if you want to take a brief connection to a new level and have a longer conversation. A great example for using Nurph is to keep your Twitter community engaged in longer talks. I also had great results using it for support purposes if you want to get feedback on your product or service.

As more and more people join the world of Twitter (460,000 signups per day), school parents and teachers are more commonplace on this global social media tool. According to a recent Pew Internet Study, 84% of all Twitter users are between the ages of 18-49. Why is this important to school officials? The age range includes the majority of our school parents.

No one feels the strain of that digital-age truism more than journalists, who are asked to ferret out and process information with ever-increasing speed - and often at the expense of providing solid context for the news of the day. Journalist's Resource, a new online tool developed at Harvard's Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy, aims to put that background knowledge at the fingertips of reporters, bloggers, or even concerned citizens by making the work of academics less opaque and easier to find. But the website, which curates scholarship on government, economics, society, and the environment, is more than just a reliable shortcut for deadline-driven journalists. "There is a real need for deepening journalism with verified, high-quality knowledge that informs the kind of serious journalism that makes our democracy work," said Alex S. Jones, director of the Shorenstein Center and a lecturer in public policy at HKS.   "It becomes very difficult for journalists, journalism professors, and students to go through and find the key items that would help them. Technology and education are pretty intertwined these days and nearly every teacher has a few favorite tech tools that make doing his or her job and connecting with students a little bit easier and more fun for all involved. Yet as with anything related to technology, new tools are hitting the market constantly and older ones rising to prominence, broadening their scope, or just adding new features that make them better matches for education, which can make it hard to keep up with the newest and most useful tools even for the most tech-savvy teachers. Here, we've compiled a list of some of the tech tools, including some that are becoming increasingly popular and widely used, that should be part of any teacher's tech tool arsenal this year, whether for their own personal use or as educational aids in the classroom.
