      Semantic=what something means Words that were processed for meaning we remembered the best/most.  This supports the levels of processing theory because it shows that one level of processing information (semantic) is remembered the best. This therefore proves that there are different levels of processing.
  • Craik and Tulving's research supports their level of processing theory
  • it is unclear whether time taken to process, or level of processing is the actual cause of recall
  • experiment lacks a degree of ecological validity in that only word recall is tested
