If the volcano erupts it will impact the population core of Alaska throughout Southcentral Alaska including the Mat-Su Valley, Anchorage, and the Kenai Peninsula. The Alaska Volcano Observatory offers a number of photos, maps and trajectory graphs as well.
Seismologists believe a major quake in Istanbul is inevitable. This analysis, by engineers, predicts numbers of deaths in a nighttime temblor based on the type of construction in each area. It estimates that citywide deaths could reach 30,000.
