Iraqi oil reserves estimated at 143B barrels - 2 views

  •
This article is about Iraq reserving around 143 billion barrels of oil and I believe that this article is very relevant to the topic scarcity as oil is a scarce resource in this world and yet people use them without caution. Soon enough, all the oil will be gone for people to use and we will have to use an alternative source, something renewable to provide energy for ourselves.
  •
Oil in my opinion is one of the best examples for scarcity and in the article you chose it clearly explains it. We all hope that in a near future all of the alternatives are in use instead of the little bit of oil that's missing.
  •
I agree with you guys. Oil is a great example for scarcity. If it did not, people would not make war in order to get that. Thousands of innocent people would not die. I hope in the future there will be some altarnetive sources in order to stop these stupid wars.

Nature Will Constrain China's Growth - 0 views

  •
This column recounts the limits placed on China's growth by scarce natural resources, concluding "that the planet simply cannot sustain a population of China's size joining the west in its reckless consumption."
  •
In this article we can unfortunately see that there is a big problem about scarce resources in China. "only 1 per cent of air is fit to breathe", "...such is the scarcity of water." " the planet simply cannot sustain a population of China's size joining the west in its reckless consumption" but China has a right to live like western countries. Unfairly, all these problems came out because of China's population in the article. I was not know these things about China.

Saving trees in Amazon : A well-huged lot / The Economist - 1 views

  •
For production of some wooden goods, Amazon is in danger. I believe that it is a great example for scarcity. Thus the deforestation will stop when there will be no more forests. However, Brazil is in a significant process of decreasing the rate of deforestation hopefully.

Whose problem now? - 2 views

  •
This article is based on the scarcity of the food. The article gives data about the poverty rates of the world. The article judges that who should be responsible for the poverty.
  •
we should all be responsible as the resources is limited and it's close to impossible to full fill everybody's needs and wants.
  •
Seeing people death because of the starvation make me really upset. But I am afraid, it does not make many people in the world. If it made, something would change. I agree with you Tiffany, we should be all responsible about that. But the countries which exploited the country of that poor people should be more responsible and should not act nothing happened. They cannot ignore the situation.

China Denounces Demand for High Tariffs on Solar Panels - 2 views

  •
The main idea of this article is exactly what the title states. China says that the high tariffs on solar panels produced in China "could undermine global economy and harm international efforts to combat global warming". Here, we can see several problems: scarcity and sustainability - the protection towards Chinese solar panels may force countries to use non-renewable sources as energy instead of renewable sources of energy such as the solar system. The article also mentions China's retaliation towards the US, as China would "purchase less American factory equipment and raw materials for making solar panels".
