The second largest and fastest-growing criminal industry in the world is human sex trafficking. Millions of people, many of them young girls and boys, are victimized by those who are reaping billions of dollars in profits. 100,000 children are estimated to be in the sex trade in the United States each year. According to an article in The Guardian, three out of every 1,000 people worldwide are victims of sex trafficking, which is a form of slavery.

We need to make human trafficking known to the public, it's an issue that most of us don't realize or even think about raising awareness on it helps prevent it but we need to become educated in it. Human trafficking is not only in the sexual seance it can be in every way from the guy delivering your Chinese food to the girl doing your nails. It's not only about the woman selling sex is about slavery modern day slavery which is exactly what human trafficking is.

Maria, I just heard a story on NPR this afternoon about a sizeable grant being awarded to a nonprofit whose mission is will be to help people who have been freed from "slavery," here in Boston. Remind me, and I will try to find it for you online.
