    Many of you potential male primary school teachers reading this will be people who are considering a career change later in life. Whether this is the case or not, there are many transferable skills and interests that will be of benefit to you as a male primary school teacher. One advantage of primary school teaching over secondary is that you get to teach the full breadth of the national curriculum ensuring a lot of variety to your working life. So if you're the sort of person with a wide variety of interests, as many men are, then this is a great way to engage in a lot of them. By this I mean that, for example, you could be the type of person who has always done well in maths and English, but also enjoys sports or creative/artistic pursuits. Being a primary school teacher enables you to flex all these muscles. If, conversely, you are a physics graduate who has no interest in anything other than physics then maybe being a secondary school teacher would be more suitable. The fact that you can engage in coaching your class to work well as a team in a sport whilst developing their skills for an hour and then move on to examining an interesting era of history is quite cool for a job really. Whilst this is just one example the point remains the same that primary school teaching does allow you to experience a lot of variety in your working day. Some people who are considering switching from an office based or sales job should ponder that for a while as I am well aware that some of these jobs can seem like you are living in the groundhog day. A common issue for new male primary school teachers is that they feel insecure because maybe their own general knowledge doesn't quite shape up to the demands of actually teaching other humans about something.
