    The hotel industry is crossing over to web based PMS and this article states that because it works off a cloud its less headaches and more user friendly. There are many reasons why a web based PMS can be beneficial and why the hotel industry is swithcing over. It can be used for multiple properties and reduce double booking. Another great feature is you can have numerous points of sales and it all interconnects. This is the future of our industry.

    Hotels are becoming more green world wide. MGM hotels is on board with a green initiative. Hotels electricity and water add up because they have to cool a building , clean and maintain the hotel. IT costs about 800 per room annually in electricity and water costs. MGM hotels reduced the electrivity they use which can help power 12, 000 houses. HOtels are also trying to reduce its carbon emissions. Although as the article states " its very difficult fot hotels to be trully green by their nature" every little bit helps.

    This article discusses how GDS is declining with Travek agents but GDS bookings within the hotel industry is increasing. GDS allows the hotel industry to reach bigger markets to increase hotel bookings. This article has very good facts it states that in 2012 GDS "fell to 72 % in 2012 , down from a high of 90% in 2005" GDS is great because you reach cover more ground allowing to reach more future clients then traditional target markets.

    this article explains what cloud computing is, also how important it is in any business and expecially the hospitality business. There is so much information out there coming from different angles, such as social media that cloud computing in hospitality is a must. It is difficult for businesses to store that much incoming data in a inhome server. The article aslo discussed how tension around cloud computing can be put at ease. The biggest misconseption with cloud computing is people not understanding what and how it works.

    The equipment we use in technology such as out computer is not a determent of what prices we pay. Orbitz is showing mac users higher prices on hotels simply because they use a mac instead of a PC. The CEO states thats not a fact but facts prove that mac users are 40 % most likely to book a 4 or 5 star hotel. The engineers from Orbitz are experimenting with predicting what the consumer will search for and not giving mac users a higher price on hotel nights. Technology has now become a sterotype is how consumers are feeling by the futy posted in twitter. At the end of the day the consumer can search for different hotels prices and rooms no matter if a mac or pc user.
