How Travel is Getting to Grips with New Mobile Technology and NFC in 2012 - By Marco Sa... - 0 views

  •
According to a recent Google whitepaper, the number of mobile users researching travel via their mobile devices is expected to grow 51% in 2012. The case is equally compelling for mobile booking in APAC, with more than 15% of travellers projected to book travel products and service by 2013. This article was very interesting it discussed the up coming technologies that are effecting travelers. Mostly in airports and business travelers. They discuss a technology called NFC technology which is near field communication. with this technology in our phones we will be able to pay for lunch, tickets, and everything else just by swiping our phones at the registar. They discuss in the article something that we discussed in a group, whether it is good to be an early investor our wait and rid fit out and make sure that it is a good investment. As for mobile technology in travel they definitely said that the early adopters are reaping the benefits and seeing a major cash inflow from investing. So in this situation it would have been a better idea to adopt early, because now that it is so popular it is more expensive to get the technology up on running.

This article is about a task force called Guestroom 20X and this team puts on a "conference" or sorts every year and it displays the newest and most innovative technology for the hospitality field. specializing in hotel guest rooms. This is such a great way to get people together and get people talking about the newest technology. sometimes technology is updated so fast that it is hard to keep up with the curve and the point of this meeting is so that everyone can be educated and also be ahead of the curve. These technologies that are exhibited are anywhere from next generation tv's to non traditional technologies like bathroom fixtures, and also user friendly tech like mobile applications for the rooms. This also includes green technology as well to help heal our environment! I think this is just an amazing idea and that everyone in the hotel business should attend and learn more about what technology has to offer.

Hotel Management Software Company Goes Mobile with Full Access via iPad, iPhone and And... - 0 views

This article discusses a company that has released a software what lets managers and employees access the PMS and POS remotely from a mobile device. This allows a more personal feel when checking in because the person who is checking you in doesn't have to be behind a desk or behind a computer. A hotel in canada actually is using this technology to check guests in directly in front of their own villas. When a person is walking down the hall and needs something for their room such as towels and other amenities, and stops an employee in the hall that employee can help them right away there in the hall instead of having to direct them to the front desk or to someone else that can assist them. The company is called front desk anywhere. and i believe that this will bring back the more personal feel to travel that used to be. This will allow every guest to feel special which i believe that not been the case the last couple of years.

This article addresses the lack of technology being used in the event planning industry. In this article there is a company and women featured who saw the lack and the need for technology in the industry and took the initiative to take charge and began something called planner tech. Basically these are events all over the country to show local event planners how they can benefit from technology. I thought this was so innovative and interesting. It is nice for people who see a gap in our world and they can locate it and show this lack of tech to other people and help them use it to their advantage
