Hoteliers.com published this article last month about hotels going green. Due to the rising number of consumers wanting to be eco-friendly, hotels are looking for creative ways to go green. A hotel in Denmark offers guests a free meal if they pedal on bikes to generate energy. Most hotels do offer laundry service at the consumer's discretion. For example, re-using towels and sheets for two days instead of one time use. Additionally, energy consumption is a big concern. In the article, some hotels "use wireless controllers that control Key Card, lighting and air conditioning in rooms. Lights and other devices in the room automatically turn off when guests leaves, and adjust to optimal levels when the guest returns. The device requires no additional wiring, saves energy, and does not add numbers to operating costs." This is a great concept, prevents anyone from worrying if the turned the lights off or not.

At Jade Mountain Resort, we have a lot of green practices, including providing compost for our organic garden. Also we recycle rain water for the entire resort.
