Created to provide optimal performance on either internal or external steel, Nullifire SC902 is a low VOC, one coat, fast track, high build system, based on patented technology that offers fire protection up to 120 minutes.

Nullifire SC902 "Fast Track' Hybrid intumescent basecoat was selected for use on the 'Heritage' structural steel components due to the unique surface tolerant properties of the coating. The coating was being applied on-site to steel that had minimal surface preparation due to its prior encasement in concrete ceiling beams and required a 120 min FRL performance.

Nullifire SC902 was selected for the 120 min fire rating of the structural steel columns for the Parramatta Police Station project. Works were carried out onsite with the glass curtain wall in place. Even though access was restricted, the applicators were still able to provide a good level of finish. The columns were exposed to view and thus were top sealed to provide an aesthetically pleasing finish.

The recently opened Southern Precinct of Melbourne Airport Terminal 4 and Pier G developments commenced construction late 2013. The Airport was to remain fully operational during the construction process and thus all facets of construction were subject to a critical path analysis to deliver the project on time. A substantial amount of structural steel was included in the design of the various structures with over 2,700 tonnes of steel requiring 120 min fire protection with an intumescent coating system. The availability of a hybrid intumescent coating, Nullifire SC902, provided the solution to deliver the productivity outcomes required for this critical component of the project. By carrying out the intumescent coating application off-site (65,000kgs), the coated steel could be delivered to the construction site as finished sections ready for erection to meet the priorities of the construction program, minimising delays. Because bolted connections could be coated on-site at a later stage of construction the following trades could install services without disruption or delay.

In October 2015, The Hon. Warren Truss MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development opened the $45 million upgrade works to the Brisbane International Airport. Following consultation with the Engineers, Enstruct, and the Builder, SMI, in relation to the structural steel fire protection required for these significant upgrade works, the Nullifire SC902 intumescent basecoat system was selected as the thin film intumescent of choice for the construction works for the brand new Air New Zealand lounge.
