This site accompanies a book I bought recently and would highly recommend as a useful guide for high school history students. It contains research and writing style guides and heaps of online resources (which I'm going to add to the group anyway). It's written for introductory undergraduate students yet would be useful for senior high school history students and is written and organised clearly and effectively.

A well-organised guide to research and writing for students of history, science and the social sciences generally. Nicely laid-out too.

he Pioneers Violin, 1971, directed by B. Stepantsev, Soyuzmultfilm. A Nazi soldier tries to force a young Soviet boy scout to play a German song on his violin. Instead he defiantly plays the [then] Soviet national anthem, The International, and is shot by the Nazi. Fyodor Khitruk: Patriotic themes existed and were included into the plan of Goskino (the State Film Committee)...We werent pushed to make films based on these themes, but the political repertoire was put together by what they approved or did not approve, as in feature films and literature. The Pioneers Violin probably wasnt promoted by somebody. They didnt write the scripts on Vasiliev Street [Goskino]. As I remember, Boris Stepanstev who made this film, made it honestly thinking it was needed.Category:Film & Animation

A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations Turabian Quick Guide Kate L. Turabian's Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations presents two basic documentation systems: notes-bibliography style (or simply bibliography style) and author-date style (sometimes called reference list style). These styles are essentially the same as those presented in The Chicago Manual of Style, sixteenth edition, with slight modifications for the needs of student writers. Bibliography style is used widely in literature, history, and the arts. This style presents bibliographic information in footnotes or endnotes and, usually, a bibliography.

Two prominent historians, Norman Davies and Timothy Snyder, were hosted at the Batory Foundation in Warsaw on Thursday, 28 November. The discussion was moderated by Aleksander Smolar, director of the Foundation's board.
