DC is home to many sports teams and one of the most popular MLS clubs with DC United. The RFK stadium which is home to DC United has held many international soccer events and even had attendances of up to 80,000 people. Sports are often overlooked in Washington, D.C. due to the surrounding influence of government and politics. The impact of sports in DC is huge because it takes people away from the craziness of politics and gives them some relaxation with sporting events.
