Sorry if this double-posts, I had to switch windows. So this is less "internet" and more "tech innovation", but it was so cool I just had to share it. This company has developed a piece of hardware (shaped exactly like a credit card), that can actually be swiped in credit card machines, that holds all of your personal credit, debit, and gift card information. You switch between cards using a button on the device, you add them to the card via a phone app and an attached card swiper, and as it's linked to your phone, it'll alert you if you get too far away from the card (in the case of leaving it on a table and walking away, or forgetting your wallet on the way out of the house, for example).

Personally I don't think I've ever looked up a health topic on Wikipedia; I use WebMD for that. Which isn't crowdsourced, I don't think -- I think they pay people to write the content on WebMD. Still, nice idea to offer college credit!

If you do View Source on it, too, you can tell (at least I can) that it was hand-coded in HTML rather than generated by a CMS. And all the tags are written in capital letters, . No one does that anymore.

Thanks, Vincent, though learning SQL is a pretty advanced skill. It's unlikely you'll need it anytime soon, certainly not for this class. I do regret asking the question on the exam -- maybe I'll give everyone automatic credit!

Yes, it is! I've already given you credit for one link this week, but that is a good explanation -- even though the page it was last updated in 2005 and the search engine it gives as an example is Alta Vista. :) Alta Vista doesn't even exist anymore; it was acquired by Yahoo awhile ago, I think. During Open Access week, I stopped by the Fenwick Info desk. I was able to get some informational packets and forms on open access week. There were many packets and brochures describing the history of open access and how students and professors could become more involved in the open access movement. I found one packet to be very informative on how I could learn to use open access to my advantage when conducting research.
