Inspired by the poem I shared, I decided to choose some websites having to do with what women want. I chose one chick lit author's website, two "diet" and health books, The Gossip Girl website, and several other websites of women's interests. I also mixed websites of some of my favorite children's books authors as well as websites that hold my interest.
I find Diigo fun to use. It is a convenient location to store my bookmarks so that when I use another computer, I can find the websites that I need without using the search engine or typing the address. It is also fun to highlight information that I think is important and add sticky notes to my thoughts. Highlighting and adding notes can save unnecessary lookup time in the future. For example, at a popular attraction (i.e. zoo, amusement park), I can highlight the opening times, and the highlight becomes convenient in the future.

My powerful poem is "What Do Women Want?" by Kim Addonizio.
My bookmark and notes are at http://diigo.com/0dslt.
I have never been much of a poetry person partly because I had a painful experience with the poem unit in my English class in high school. I was unable to analyze poetry effectively and was frustrated with writing five paragraph papers on poems.
I chose this poem because I am a girly girl, and it is a poem I can actually understand and enjoy. It reminds me of the Shopaholic series because the woman in the story wants that provocative red dress badly, just as the Becky in the series would shell out pounds for that dress. The dress is a symbol of power, prestige, sexual prowess, and privilege. It has the tone of "I am better than you and I will always be better than you."
I can relate to this poem because I love shopping. I dream of owning a red dress by one of the famous designers and wear it to a function. I have no place to wear it unless I am suddenly invited to a party full of A-listers. Women feel that owning a certain piece of clothing makes them feel more powerful, whether it is a Chanel jacket, a Versace dress, sky-high Loutoutins, or a Balenciaga bag. I know some women who are competitive about clothes and accessories and feel that they are superior if they own a closetful of designer clothes.
I should definitely check out more poems. I am honestly not a big fan of complicated poems, but I enjoy children's poetry and poems to which I can easily relate.
