James has given notice to leave the company and will remain with Boots until November. The UK pharmacy giant has already begun the search for a new Managing Director. James is set to take on the role of CEO at Veonet, a leading European chain of ophthalmology clinics. During his tenure as Managing Director since 2018, James played a pivotal role in transforming Boots into the UK's leading health and beauty retailer. He oversaw significant growth and innovation, achieving thirteen consecutive quarters of retail market share growth. Most recently, the company announced strong Q3 results in June with growth across all categories.

    Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA), the parent company of Boots UK, has announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal 2025, reporting sales growth across all business segments. Total sales for the quarter reached $39.5 billion (approximately £32.39 billion), marking a 7.5 per cent increase from the year-ago quarter, with a 6.9 per cent rise on a constant currency basis. The International segment contributed approximately £5.25 billion ($6.4 billion) in sales, reflecting a 10.2 per cent increase compared to the prior year, driven by a 3.6 per cent favorable currency impact. On a constant currency basis, sales grew 6.5 per cent, with Boots UK reporting a 4.5 per cent rise in sales. Its German wholesale business experienced strong growth of 11 per cent.

New CEO Tim Wentforth Takes the Helm at WBA - 0 views

    Walgreens Boots Alliance, Boots UK's parent company, has appointed Tim Wentforth as its new CEO, effective on 23 October. He joined WBA at a pivotal time when the company plans to downsize the business while driving execution and creating greater value for employees, patients, customers and shareholders. Wentforth replaced Rosalind Brewer, who stepped down on 1 September, after two years at the helm. He joined from Evernorth, Cigna's health services organisation based in Connecticut, where he served as its founding CEO. Prior to Cigna, he also held top roles in companies including specialty pharmacy company Accredo and pharmacy benefit manager Express Scripts.
