The dantrolene sodium used in treatment of muscle stiffness and tightness (spasticity), multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy. It is known as a postsynaptic muscle relaxant as it mediates the release of calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum, which is essential for muscle contraction.
