In several studies, it has been identified that there are four main reasons for patients to travel abroad for healthcare. Firstly, 88% of people have identified affordability as a key reason. It has been noted that healthcare is quite costly in their home countries, hence they opt to travel abroad (Jagyasi, 2018). It is also identified that accessibility is another key reason, almost 66%, for people to travel abroad. There tends to be a long waiting period for a number of issues hence making people travel. Another key concern as identified by Dr. Prem Jagyasi - Medical Tourism Magazine, is quality of care. Almost 38% of the people feel that the care and support provided in their own home country is relatively lower than that in different countries. Finally, almost 46% of the individuals have identified that health care is not available in their home country, hence the choice for healthcare abroad (Jagyasi, 2018). These have become the underlying causes of healthcare tourism to become inevitable and also grow so rapidly.
