How To Gain Weight And Build More Muscle - 0 views

  •
For many thin guys around the world, gaining weight without using illegal steroids has been a challenge. For thousands of lean young men, the dream is to gain weight, but no matter how much they eat they remain thin. Some people are naturally thin; that means their genetic makeup is in such a way that the body burns more calories than others. The very basic method of weight gain is to eat more calories than your body burns off. By providing the body with more calories, this balance can be altered and body mass can be increased. Weight training is of great importance in this context, which enables the body to absorb more nutrients from the food by increasing the level of certain hormones and increasing the muscle mass.

MHRA Advisory: Safe Pregnancy Pain Relief - 0 views

  •
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has reminded healthcare professionals that use of systemic (oral and injectable) Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and diclofenac is contraindicated in the last trimester of pregnancy (after 28 weeks of pregnancy). It has advised that patients who are unsure whether pain relief medicine they are taking is an anti-inflammatory (NSAID), to speak to doctor, midwife, or pharmacist. Some non-prescription pain relief medicines may contain more than one active drug, therefore it is important to read the box or the leaflet provided with the medicine to see if it contains an NSAID like ibuprofen. The use of any non-prescription medicine for the management of pain during pregnancy should be for the shortest possible time at the lowest possible dose, suggested MHRA.

People are advised to be mindful of medications that may cause sun reactions, and to watch out for dodgy hay fever treatments and fake weight loss pens. For those traveling abroad, the MHRA advises considering the suitability of medicines available to reduce the risk of contracting tropical diseases. Dr Alison Cave, Chief Safety Officer at the MHRA, said: "The summer is an exciting time for many of us, as we take time off to travel and enjoy the warmer weather. "But it is important to understand what this time of year means for our medicines and medical devices, and take the precautions necessary to use products safely and protect ourselves." Watch out for dodgy hay fever treatments Millions of Britons suffer from hay fever symptoms in the summer. The MHRA advises consulting a healthcare professional to find the best treatment for your symptoms. People are also warned to be cautious of medicines advertised as hay fever treatments but not approved for use in the UK, such as Kenalog. This is a prescription-only steroid injection licensed as a medicine for other conditions, but not for the treatment of hay fever.

New BMJ Study 2024 Reveals NSAID Prescribing Risks: RPS Calls for Enhanced Safety Measures - 0 views

  •
Following the publication of a new study by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) that estimates the economic impact and prevelance of hazardous NSAID prescribing in England, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) has underscored the pressing need for enhanced safety measures in medication management. The study, led by RPS Fellow Rachel Elliott, reveals significant health and financial costs associated with the high-risk prescribing of oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) among vulnerable populations. James Davies, Director for England at the RPS, emphasised the critical findings of the research. "Improving the safety of NSAID prescribing requires a multi-pronged approach, that educates and supports prescribers on the risk, as well as uses the skills of pharmacists in the primary care team to help identify higher risk patients and prescribing scenarios," Davies remarked. The study highlights that NSAIDs, while effective in managing pain and inflammation, are associated with serious adverse events, including gastrointestinal bleeding, renal dysfunction, and cardiovascular issues.

  •
Psoriasis vs Eczema, while both causing itchy, inflamed skin, are distinct conditions with different underlying causes and treatments. Understanding these differences is crucial for proper diagnosis and management. Symptoms: Psoriasis: Thick, red, scaly patches: Often on elbows, knees, scalp, but can affect any area. Silvery scales: Easily removed, revealing inflamed skin beneath. Eczema: Dry, itchy, red patches: Often on inner elbows, knees, hands, face, but can be widespread. Fine, scaling: Less prominent compared to psoriasis. Causes: Psoriasis: Autoimmune condition: Immune system mistakenly attacks healthy skin cells, causing rapid growth and buildup. Genetic predisposition: Family history increases risk. Eczema: Atopic dermatitis: Combination of genetic and environmental factors. Dry skin: Major contributing factor. Treatments: Psoriasis: Topical medications: Steroids, retinoids, vitamin D analogues to reduce inflammation and cell growth. Light therapy: Ultraviolet light exposure to slow skin cell production. Eczema: Moisturizers: Regular use hydrates and protects the skin barrier. Emollients: Oil-based creams to soothe dryness and itching. Key Differences: Cause: Psoriasis is autoimmune, while eczema is complex and involves both genetics and environment. Symptoms: Psoriasis typically has thicker scales and less itching, while eczema is drier and itchier.
