AAH Pharmaceuticals (AAH) has announced the appointment of Brain Chambers as Chief Commercial Officer. "I'm proud to lead the commercial functions in AAH in my new role and broader area of responsibility." Said Brian. He joined the organisation as Business Development Manager in October 2008. His previous role in the organisation was on Sales and Marketing Director. What is the main play here is AAH becoming a standalone independent wholesale business focussed on only the AAH customer and our core business and this is just one part of that.

Private equity firms HIG and Capvest have joined the list of investors who have expressed interest in acquiring AAH Pharmaceuticals - the biggest supplier of goods to British pharmacies. The company, which was bought by German private equity firm Aurelius in 2022, is once again up for sale, according to the Financial Times. Aurelius has hired advisers from BNP Paribas to run an auction process for the pharma giant, with the first round of indicative bids expected later this month, the report said. AAH Pharmaceuticals supplies a network of 14,000 pharmacies across the UK, generating £3bn a year in revenues. Aurelius anticipated that the business could fetch an enterprise value, including debt, of roughly 10 times its earnings, which were projected to be around £90 million this year. People familiar with the matter told the publication that the business has drawn interest from bidders because it was likely to be "the only full-service pharmacy distributor to come to market in the coming years." The auction process is expected to be completed by the end of the year, although Aurelius may decide not to sell the business if the offers do not meet their desired price, the report said.

The Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp) celebrated achievements of its members during the pandemic at its first annual 'ball and award' ceremony held last week in London. To highlight the important role played by pharmacy teams, the association representing community pharmacy businesses with multiple branches, introduced two award categories - for patient safety and social care. Stephen Walls from H I Weldricks won the Patient Safety Awards and Sandeep Dhami, Nadia Hussain and Sachin Basandrai from MW Phillips won the Social Care Award. Congratulating the winners, Leyla Hannbeck, CEO of AIMp, said that community pharmacy teams "have worked tirelessly to deliver patient care throughout the pandemic." David McNicol, head of sales at AAH Pharmaceuticals, noted that the country and community pharmacy witnessed the toughest 18 months, and the gathering provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing challenges.
