Otrivine brings the world's first air-purifying "Air Bubble" to Glasgow in a bid to raise awareness of the devastating effect of air pollution on children's health. Air pollution is considered the world's largest environmental health threat, with 93 per cent of children breathing polluted air every day according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Air Bubble, launched to help bring this invisible crisis to the top of the agenda, is an educational architecture, using biotechnology to purify the air. The nose is one of our first lines of defence when it comes to filtering out particle pollutants from the air we breathe. •
Making your home both heat and cold-resistant may seem like a daunting task, but there are actually a few simple things you can do to make your home more comfortable no matter the season. In this article, we'll share four ways to make your home both heat and cold-resistant. INSTALL WEATHERSTRIPPING OR CAULKING One of the best ways to make your home more resistant to both heat and cold is to install weatherstripping or caulking around all of the doors and windows. This will help to seal up any cracks or gaps that might let the air escape, making it much easier to keep your home at a comfortable temperature no matter what the weather is like outside. One of the best ways to make your home both heat and cold resistant is to install weatherstripping around all of your doors and windows. This will help to seal in the cool air during the summer and the warm air during the winter, making your home much more comfortable year-round. Another way to improve your home's resistance to extreme temperatures is to caulk any gaps or cracks that you may have in your walls, floors, or ceilings. By doing this, you'll prevent heat or cold from seeping into your home through these tiny openings, saving you money on your energy bills.

Joint Pain:Effect of Weather and What to Do - 0 views

  •
For many people who suffer from joint pain, the weather can be a big factor in their pain. While joint pain can be caused by many different things, such as arthritis, injuries, and age, the weather can aggravate and worsen the pain. Several studies have been conducted over the last several years; however, no concrete evidence supports one theory vs. another. That said, let's take a closer look at how weather affects joint pain and what you can do to minimize the discomfort. How Weather Affects Joint Pain It might seem like an old wives' tale, but there is actually some science behind how weather affects joint pain. Temperature Changes The temperature outside can majorly affect how much joint pain you experience. When temperatures drop, your body will get stiffer and more painful joints as the air around them gets colder. During hot days, the air humidity outside may cause swelling and increased inflammation in your joints which could lead to more pain. Pressure Changes Just like a barometer measures changes in atmospheric pressure, so does your body. Pressure changes due to shifts in the atmosphere can affect joint pain because pressure changes directly impact your joints' lubrication levels. When pressure drops and becomes low enough, it can cause extra friction between bones connected by tendons or muscles, resulting in more pain than usual.

BBC show puts spotlight on community pharmacy - 0 views

  •
The One Show on BBC One has put community pharmacy in the limelight, showcasing the sector's vital work during the pandemic to a primetime TV audience. The five minute segment, aired on May 10, featured Sutton pharmacist Reena Barai and a reception at St. James's Palace for around 200 pharmacists, including Barai, hosted by the Prince of Wales on May 4. "It was great to be part of such a positive story," Barai, who is a board member of the National Pharmacy Association (NPA), said. "It's heartening that the national media are taking notice of the sector, because it's too often overlooked. Coverage like this both reflects public opinion and shapes it, that's why the NPA works so hard on keeping us in the public eye." The segment told the story of community pharmacy's role during the pandemic and contained footage of a speech by the Prince of Wales, praising the sector for its contribution to the nation's healthcare. "Pharmacists are about people and places, not just pills, a place where science, as it were, meets society. I just want to thank you all, more than I can possibly say, for everything you do so brilliantly to keep people well, and above all, save lives. Thank you, everybody," Prince Charles is seen saying at the reception.

How Are Diaphragm Pumps Used In The Pharmaceutical Industry - 0 views

  •
Diaphragm pumps are positive displacement pumps that use a flexible diaphragm to displace a fluid volume. They're used to move fluids with viscous materials or solid particles because they can move the fluids without causing damage to the pump. Almost all major industries use diaphragm pumps to move concrete, acid, and abrasive fluids. Diaphragm pumps use power sources like air pressure, mechanical means, and electricity. One industry that relies heavily on diaphragm pump operation is the pharmaceutical industry. The diaphragm pump is suitable for the pharmaceutical industry because it can handle a variety of fluids and provide a gentle flow. This article discusses the various uses of diaphragm pumps in the pharmaceutical industry and how they have revolutionized it. 1. Filling Vials Filling vials with liquid medication is a task that has to be accurate and concise. Diaphragm pumps can dispense a precise amount of drugs into a vial. The pump provides an exact flow rate, ensuring each vial has the correct medication dosage. Diaphragm pumps reduce the risk of medication errors.

Coughs can spread Covid-19 beyond 2 metres: Cambridge study - 0 views

  •
A new study has shown that Covid-19 can spread between unmasked people at a distance of more than two metres even outdoors. A team of engineers from the University of Cambridge used computer modelling to quantify how droplets spread when people cough. They found that the two-metre rule was arbitrary and that social distancing alone was not enough to stop the spread of the virus. The team also found that individual coughs vary widely, and that the 'safe' distance could have been set at anywhere between one to three or more metres. The results, published in the journal Physics of Fluids, suggest that social distancing is not an effective mitigation measure on its own, and underline the importance of vaccination, ventilation and masks.

Top 5 Hair Masks to Treat Winter Dandruff - 0 views

  •
Treating your scalp the same way you treat your skin is one of the most crucial life lessons. This reasoning is supported by the fact that your scalp is composed of skin and functions similarly. Thus, throughout the winter, the scalp experiences the same level of skin dryness as the rest of our bodies. Dandruff, flaking, and irritation develop as a result of your head. Winter dandruff, in contrast to summer and monsoon flaking, is a direct result of the scalp being dry from the chilly air. Add to that the fact that you always keep your head covered to stay warm. This creates a comfortable, warm environment for dandruff-producing microorganisms on the scalp. You need to take care of dandruff as soon as you can since it may be very uncomfortable, especially when those bothersome white flakes appear on dark woolen winter clothing. Here are some suggestions to help you get rid of dandruff: 1. Neem with coconut oil. The moisturizing benefits of coconut oil may be well known to you. These qualities come from its excellent fatty acid and vitamin content. Wouldn't the ideal defense against dandruff be created if coconut oil and neem, which has antibacterial and antifungal qualities, were combined? 4 teaspoons of coconut oil should be added to 1 teaspoon of neem powder. Depending on how long your hair is, change these amounts. Read More : https://medium.com/@tribalblackoil/top-5-hair-masks-to-treat-winter-dandruff-2a03163bb4f2
