A new study has revealed that public trust in services provided by local pharmacies ranks highest in the UK, although confidence in the NHS has nosedived
following the pandemic.
The 2022 Edelman Trust Barometer report published on Wednesday (April 21) found that around 78 per cent of respondents trust their local pharmacies, the highest for any provider cited in the survey.
Besides, 72 per cent said pharmacists are among the most trusted to tell the truth about health matters and protect public health, almost similar to 'my doctor' (75%) and health experts (74%).
Just under half of them said the pandemic has decreased their confidence that the NHS is well-equipped in handling major health crisis. The survey also revealed that 60 per cent think they lack access to high-quality healthcare.
With so much hype about DNA testing, people are more than interested in buying a home dna test kit and finding out about their ancestry. The truth about DNA testing is that they reveal more than one's ancestral background. Primarily, DNA testing was used to detect criminals or prove the innocence of someone awaiting capital punishment. Today, things have changed, and DNA-related things are no more revolving around criminal justice alone.
Genetic science can reveal the following amazing things:
FIND OUT YOUR FAMILY TREE
DNA testing has helped people map their family tree and find out details about who their forefathers were and which regions of the world they were from. Believe us or not, but it is the right time to go for it now if you have never performed a DNA test before! Just choose the right DNA testing kit to connect with the previously unknown branches of your family.
DNA testing has increased in popularity as people live a more conscientious life. Today, everyone is looking for answers regarding their genetic ethnicity and how they can live a happier and healthier life.
Future pandemics could be even more lethal than Covid-19 so the lessons learned from the outbreak must not be squandered and the world must ensure it is prepared for the next viral onslaught, one of the creators of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine said.
"The truth is, the next one could be worse. It could be more contagious, or more lethal, or both," Prof Dame Sarah Gilbert said in the Richard Dimbleby Lecture, the BBC reported. "This will not be the last time a virus threatens our lives and our livelihoods."
Gilbert, a professor of vaccinology at the University of Oxford, said the world should make sure it is better prepared for the next virus.
"The advances we have made, and the knowledge we have gained, must not be lost," she said.
Efforts to end the Covid-19 pandemic have been uneven and fragmented, marked by limited access to vaccines in low-income countries while the "healthy and wealthy" in rich countries get boosters, health experts say.

There are several benefits to losing weight, including higher self-esteem, better mood, improved sleep pattern, and better health in general. In addition,
you can prevent various health concerns associated with obesity, such as heart problems and diabetes. There are different ways to help reduce weight, including
lifestyle changes. It requires discipline, perseverance, and commitment to reach your goal and maintain it.
The first step to making these changes can be challenging, but you must push yourself and keep moving forward to achieve your objective. If you are a beginner, the
weight loss tips can be overwhelming, and some may be too hard to do that it could demotivate you or make you give up. So, we listed some tips for losing weight that
are ideal for beginners.
Set your goal
Although you may want to lose weight immediately, the truth is that it will not happen overnight. Remember that it did not take one day to gain all those extra
pounds, so you cannot lose them instantly. Setting your expectations straight is essential, so you won't be disappointed if you do not see an immediate result.
You need consistency to be where you want to be, so make sure you have a clear objective. You can set smaller goals that you can achieve within a shorter period,
then set another goal after that until you reach your ideal weight. You will feel motivated by these small wins, making you want to keep going.
Online pharmacies have to operate from bricks & mortar premises that are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, but recent cases show that, in
reality, the practices of online pharmacies are often very different to other pharmacies, and the regulation of online pharmacies is also different - and evolving
as issues arise.
For a start, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is only one of the regulators taking an interest in online pharmacy services. Other regulators include the
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) which enforces the advertising and promotion of medicines, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which
regulates prescribing services.
The different regulation of online pharmacies is attributable to the higher risk to patients and the public from medicines bought online. These risks often arise
from a combination of patients who do not tell the truth in order to obtain medicines and the nature of a transaction in which a pharmacist does not see patients
face-to-face.
"The GPhC has strong enforcement powers that it uses when it considers its premises standards have not complied with."
However, there are also things that go wrong because pharmacists have simply failed to act professionally or take sufficient care, as well as cases where things
have gone wrong through misfortune.
If you have low testosterone levels, there is a good chance you have felt some physical side effects from that. You may have heard that certain physical
activity helps combat the depletion, and there is truth in this. There is a link between increasing and fine-tuning an exercise agenda and raising testosterone
levels. Below, the relationship is explored in more detail.
WHAT DOES TESTOSTERONE DO?
There is more to the function of testosterone than just in relation to your sex drive. Of course, that is important, but it also impacts muscle building, strength,
energy levels, hair growth, and red blood cells. When levels are low, there are big consequences for anybody from hair loss to weak muscles and even exhaustion too.
TESTOSTERONE AND OBESITY
One of the biggest things that affects testosterone is being overweight. If you are carrying a few extra pounds, it would be beneficial to try to get into some
healthier habits if you want to promote an organic increase in T-levels.
HOW EXERCISE PLAYS A ROLE
Exercise seems to be a natural inhibitor of testosterone, especially when you focus on particular strategies and workout styles such as strength training. Levels
have been shown to rise immediately after exercise for anything from fifteen minutes to an hour plus. While it is different for everyone, the link is clear.
There are many people who get addicted to some sort of addiction every year and find themselves in plenty of difficulties. It has been seen that alcohol and drug addicts feel shy to admit their truth about their habit of addiction which affects their lives negatively...
The widely-held concept that levels of "good" cholesterol in the blood can indicate heart disease risk is not equally true for Blacks and whites, and the measure
itself may be of less value than previously thought, according to a U.S. study published on Monday (November 21).
Various types of cholesterol are thought to have either healthy or unhealthy effects.
Low levels of so-called "good" high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol were linked with higher odds for developing cardiac problems in the long-term study - but
only in white participants, the study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found.
In contradiction to what has generally been assumed, low HDL levels did not confer any higher risk of heart disease in Black people, researchers said. Among white
people, however, those with HDL levels below 40 milligrams per deciliter had a 22% higher risk for coronary heart disease compared with those whose HDL levels were
higher.
High HDL levels (above 60 mg/dL), which are thought to be protective, were not linked with lower coronary heart disease risks in either race, researchers found.
According to a report in 'The Mirror', palliative care doctors see hundreds of people dying in front of them. One of these doctors has revealed how a person feels before death. When a person dies, what is the reaction of his body and what is going on in his mind. Experts have limited information about this process, but the truth is that death awaits the person who has already died.
The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has published new reports on racism and other inequalities in pharmacy, following a series of virtual equality
roundtables.
This council organised its second equality roundtable on 18 September 2023, focussing on the topic of 'Language Barriers and Health Inequalities', and a follow-up
roundtable on 'Racism in Pharmacy: Accountability Counts' on 10 October 2023.
A wide range of pharmacy-related organisations, patient groups, equality groups, providers of translation services and software, individual pharmacists, pharmacy
technicians and wider teams from different sectors and settings attended the events.
GPhC chair, Gisela Abbam thanked speakers and attendees for listening and contributing to the important discussions around racism and language barriers, which she
said are "not purely a pharmacy problem, nor a health problem", but a "much broader" system problem.
"It is important we acknowledge that, and do what we can to tackle racism and barriers wherever we find them," she added.
