PDA Union Joins NHS Staff Side 2024 : Empowering Pharmacists in Agenda for Change - 0 views

    The Pharmacists' Defence Association (PDA) has secured the right to negotiate and agree on proposed changes to the NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions for its members. This milestone follows an agreement with other NHS trade unions, enabling the PDA Union to join the NHS Staff Side. As part of this group, the PDA can now actively participate in the NHS National Joint Council, which oversees changes to AfC. Participation in the NHS Staff Side brings significant benefits for PDA members, especially those employed in the NHS under AfC. In addition to providing the PDA the right to negotiate and agree proposed changes to AfC, it empowers the trade union to advocate for pharmacists at the highest levels in the NHS, participate fully in the NHS Social Partnership Forum, and collaborate with other unions on critical issues such as NHS pay. It also gives PDA members the right to be represented at local trust level on matters handled by local staff sides.

DHSC's Proposed 2.8% Pay Uplift Slammed as 'Insult' by Unite the Union | Pharmacy Biz - 0 views

    The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has proposed a 2.8% pay uplift for NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) staff, including hospital pharmacists, for the 2025/2026 pay round. This recommendation was detailed in the DHSC's submission to the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB), which described the figure as "a reasonable amount to have set aside based on the macroeconomic data and forecasts and taking into account the fiscal and labour market context." NHS England also supported the 2.8% pay increase, stating that its proposal reflects "the likely NHS budget from discussions to date with DHSC and what was set out by HM Treasury in the Autumn Budget 2024." "We propose to set allocations for NHS planning on the basis of a 2.8% pay settlement. Every 0.5% increase above that costs around £700m; which is the equivalent to around 2% of elective activity (greater than 300k completed patient pathways)," it added. However, Unite the Union, representing NHS staff, condemned the DHSC's recommendation, called the proposed increase "an insult."

NHS Consultant Pay Reform: Ending Strikes - 0 views

    After a month of intense talks, the British government and unions representing consultant doctors in England have reached an agreement, potentially ending six months of disruptive strike action. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has put forward an offer to reform the pay structure for senior doctors from January 2024, reducing the number of pay points and the time it takes to reach the top. As part of this offer, consultants will also be entitled to enhanced shared parental leave, bringing them in line with other NHS staff. New arrangements will ensure a clearer link between pay progression and evidence of skills, competencies and experience, the DHSC said. The British Medical Association (BMA) and Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association (HCSA) agreed to put the offer to their members for a vote in the coming weeks, with no further strike action to be called during that time.
