This course will describe the latest legal developments regarding new state and local laws. The laws related to leaves are constantly changing and keeping up with state and local laws is particularly challenging. This course will review new state and local laws regarding leaves, including new paid sick leave laws in California and Massachusetts, plus several cities in New Jersey and changes to the paid sick leave laws in Connecticut, the District of Columbia and New York City, new pregnancy discrimination laws in Delaware, the District of Columbia, New Jersey and Illinois, new protections for interns and volunteers in California, a new domestic violence leave law in Massachusetts, the Women's Economic Security Act in Minnesota, and a new law in Philadelphia protecting breastfeeding mothers.
