My intention is to make a video of me singing it today :)
The song touches several possible goal areas, and so I'll be using it with different age groups. 1. Counting - the ice cream cone has 11 scoops, and the way I sing it we count them three times. I'll be making a visual for the SMART board of a cone with 11 scoops. 2. Singing - the words and melody are simple. 3. Choices - the way Joanie wrote the song, she has 4 flavors and 4 toppings. Using PECS or other ways of making choices, I will ask the students what their favorite flavors of ice cream are, and sing using those choices. 4. Melting. OK, I guess this is actually a verbal or physical imitation goal :) In the second chorus the ice cream melts, and it is great fun to all stand up, or raise our arms, or touch a switch to make the sound, or do what is physically /verbally appropriate and melt like the wicked witch does in the Wizard of Oz.
I'm using the song "Ice Cream" by Joanie Leeds from her "City Kids" album.
