In nature, insects are often controlled by the current presence of insect predators and parasites which keep the communities of the harmful insects in control.

All of the insects in nature are either helpful or at the very least safe. There are lots of approaches to encourage insect predators in one's garden.

    1. Develop a suitable environment for insect predators. Flowering trees and shrubs through the garden will attract many beneficial insects including parasitic wasps which require nectar and pollen due to their development and maturity. Plants belonging to Umbelliferae family are particularly effective in getting natural enemies of pests.

    2. Offer alternative hosts for pests. To make sure option of food for the useful organisms, develop alternative host crops along fence lines and between cultivated plants. Pests will be controlled by the natural enemy populations on these alternate host plants attacking the cultivated plant.

    3. Develop nesting sites for animals, frogs and birds. Logs of dead trees, irregularly shaped stones with cavities and crevices and plenty of compost can be quite a good nesting websites for snakes, lizards, frogs, rove beetles and carabid beetles and carabid beetles, which feed on insects.

    4. Increase humidity by providing water holes. Humidity is a lot needed for the survival of natural enemies. As a supply of drinking water for birds, pets and frogs it serves. Several deceptive insects are now living in, on and near water. Well-vegetated little dams, swales and small water pools scattered through the entire garden will create problems for the build-up of natural enemies.

    5. Training mixed crops and growing them in strips help support natural enemies and confuses pests. For fungal infections,

As the root exudates of another plant may be dangerous to the virus the practice of mixed cropping is attractive. Mixed showing

also promotes soil microorganisms which, consequently, behave as barriers to the fungal pathogen.

    6. Reduce dirt build up in crop plants. Dust inhibits the functioning of natural enemies. Growing well-designed windbreaks and ground cover crops like centrosema and lablab vegetable wil dramatically reduce dust. Usage of overhead sprinklers may also help sporadically

    in cleaning off the dust.

    7. Prevent spraying chemical pesticides. Beneficial insects are eliminated by chemical pesticides. Increased application method should be created and minimum amounts should be applied.
