Efficiënt gaat over processen. Effectief gaat over doelmatigheid. Om een voorbeeld te geven: het is efficiënt om een vervelende boodschap per e-mail te versturen. Een druk op de knop en klaar ben je. Het is daarmee niet effectief. Even bij iemand langslopen om vis à vis met de juiste aandacht een vervelende boodschap te bespreken is niet efficiënt maar wel effectief.
