Australia has over 500 national parks. Over 28 million hectares of land is designated as national parkland, accounting for almost four per cent of Australia's land areas. In addition, a further six per cent of Australia is protected and includes state forests, nature parks and conservation reserves.

Australia experiences a range of 'natural disasters' including bushfires, floods, severe storms, earthquakes and landslides. These events cause great financial hardship for individuals and communities, and can result in loss of life, which has become part of Australian folklore.

This module looks at housing and shopping in Indonesia through the eyes of a young Indonesian boy, Devon. Students will gain insight into the diversity of life in Indonesia through Devon's story. The module provides the opportunity for students to learn about aspects of life in Indonesia and to make comparisons with their daily life in Australia. Key focus questions 1.In what ways are families similar in Australia and Indonesia? 2.Where do people live in Indonesia and where do they shop? 3.What are the similarities and differences between life in Indonesia and Australia?

Welcome to GeogSpace, an initiative of the Australian Geography Teachers Association (AGTA) supported by the resources of Education Services Australia (ESA). There has never been a more exciting time to study geography, with it being a subject vital to the education of every young Australian in the 21st century.

GeogSpace has been designed to provide materials to support primary and secondary teachers in implementing the Australian Curriculum: Geography. It has been developed by AGTA's team of practising geography teachers, dedicated to ensuring all schools across Australia have access to a unique resource that reflects best practice using current technology and pedagogies.

The Green Building Council of Australia's (GCBA) recently-released Green Star - Communities rating tool has been received an overwhelmingly positive response since its announcement. "This great new tool goes to the heart of what we are seeking to achieve with our National Urban Policy - and that is to make our cities more productive, sustainable and liveable," said Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Anthony Albanese upon the announcement of the rating tool.
