This module looks at the connections between Australian companies and organisations and countries in the Asia region. Students will explore why Australia trades and connects with Asia and what skills Australians require to work effectively with their counterparts. Key focus questions 1. How does Australia connect with the countries of Asia? 2. What are some of the skills required to effectively work with and in the countries of Asia? 3. How can we use Asia skills to create a country-specific briefing for a hypothetical business?

This module looks at the countries found in the Asia region and explores a range of places in China, Japan, India and Indonesia that are special to the people who live there. Students explore maps of the Asia region, identifying key countries, including Australia. They examine significant places for the people of China, Japan, India and Indonesia, exploring their similarities and differences and how they are cared for. Key focus questions What are some of the countries found in the Asia region? What are some special places in China, Japan, India and Indonesia and what do they look like? Why are some places important and how are they cared for?

This module looks at country-specific data and interactive maps and graphs to achieve an appreciation for the diversity of the countries that make up 'Asia'. Students will use a variety of online data display software to investigate and present information about Asian countries. Key focus questions: Where is 'Asia' and what is it like?

This unit explores the connections - economically and socially - between Australia and its good neighbours, the countries of Asia. Students will research production processes and discuss simple economic terminology, in the context of trade between Australia and Asia.

'The Australian Curriculum: Geography also enables students to study Asia as an important region of the world. Students can explore groups of countries, individual countries, or specific regions and locations within countries. In doing so, they develop knowledge and skills that help foster intercultural understanding as they come to appreciate the diversity that exists between and within the countries of Asia, and how this diversity influences the way people perceive and interact with places and environments.

Students will gain insight into the factors that aid and hinder economic development using Shanghai as a context. The module provides the opportunity for students to focus on the issue of the city's housing dilemma.

Students are able to explore how the Wang family upheld both core Australian values as well as those of a Chinese family, exploring the various layers of Australian identity. The clip also provides the opportunity to consider Australia's ongoing connection with Asia, highlighting the importance the media in North Asian countries placed on David Wang's success as a councillor.
