Federasi Sepak Bola Spanyol (RFEF) resmi mengubah format Piala Super Spanyol. Laga yang biasanya berlangsung kandang dan tandang akan digelar dalam satu pertandingan mulai tahun ini.
Perubahan tersebut merupakan untuk pertama kalinya dilakukan RFEF sejak Piala Super Spanyol dihelat pada 1982. Alhasil, dua tim yang bertanding di Piala Super Spanyol 2018 bakal memainkan laga di tempat yang netral.
