Cathy Allen, The Green Ambassador Present Gardening is Good Medicine event on August 2017 at Baltimore City, Maryland (USA). Gardening is Good Medicine, Garden Clubs, a holistic and therapeutic hands-on gardening program that focuses on preventative health and healthy nutritional practices for people living with diabetes, heart decease, cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer's decease. Gardening is Good Medicine Garden Clubs is an eight week, 90-minute hands-on gardening experience for all ages, and people with limited mobility with Curriculum Investment: $8,000 and Event cost of $50 for 8 sessions. Gardening is Good Medicine program has been developed by Cathy Allen, The Green Ambassador and The Green Ambassador.org, LLC. Maryland's Top Urban Environmentalist, Master Gardener-University of Maryland, Awarding Winning Environmentalist, Published Environmental Columnist, Bay Wise Landscape Manager, Co-Creator of G.R.A.S.S. (Growing Resources After Sowing Seed) an environmental entrepreneurial non-profit program based on the fundamentals of gardening, agriculture and ecology and credited with spearheading over half-million trees planted on the lawns of Baltimore City Public Schools. Duration Gardening is Good Medicine, is an eight week, 90-minute hands-on gardening experience for all ages, and people with limited mobility.

Garlic Scapes are the seed head that shoots up from the center of the garlic near the end of its growing cycle. In some varieties of Hard neck Garlic it produces a seed head. In Elephant Garlic it is a false seed head that just flowers and very seldom if at all produces seeds. We cut them a few days after they emerge and sell them as a delicacy for Gourmet cooks. They only grow on Hard neck Garlic types, and Elephant Garlic. The window to cut these is very small before they go "woody" so we only have them available for 3-4 weeks each year.

Our Soft Neck Garlic available for sale this year is Inchillium Red. Soft Neck Garlic has a longer keeping quality than most Hardneck Garlic. It has many papery wrappers around its cloves. These help to insulate it from moisture loss, and keep it fresh longer. Soft Neck garlics can store 9-12 months with proper storage methods. They do not have a hard center stem and are great for braiding. There are many cloves in a Soft Neck Garlic. The larger ones are in the outside row, and the inner rows have smaller cloves.
