Last month, Sony Online Entertainment announced that its massively multiplayer online role-playing game DC Universe Online will introduce a free-to-play option on top of its current subscription-based model.

Besides giving those who already play the game the option to downgrade their account to a free one, it should also help populate the streets of Gotham and Metropolis with thousands of additional super heroes and villains to battle (or fight alongside).
