I think this article shows us how generalized the word "friend" has become -
This article is basically saying that relationships are being affected by technology. It brings up the point that if we have 1000 friends on Facebook how many of those friends are we actually keeping in contact with. Another point is that the more time we spend on social networking sites the less time we spend socializing face-to-face. -
Sometimes Social networking makes it hard for us to understand who our real friends are. I think most of us are past having an exponential amount of friends but we certainly are obsessed with how we project ourselves on the internet. It's hard for us to maintain relationships or meet people online without questioning the realness of it.
