Peter Fendrich on 15 Apr 09Robots taking over the world is reserved for the movies and far fetched in reality. But a world in which humans and robots can co-exist is a distinct possibility. At least that's the view and goal of Pleasanton-based Adept Technology, a public company which develops "intelligent" robotics used in everything from packaging to precision placement of parts. Typically robots work in fenced-off areas where safety can be tightly controlled. Adept tries to develop less complex robotics that eliminate danger concerns. "We believe in the not-so-distant future there is a possibility that will allow people and robots to operate in the same environment working closely together," said John Dulchinos, chief executive of Adept.
