The concept of IoT started in the early 1980s. In 1982, computer science graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University had connected a vending machine to the internet. The programmers developed an application to check the availability and temperature of the drink. It was in 1999 that IoT was officially recognized as a distinct technology.

While building apps based on IoT can be a strenuous task, but with a wide number of development tools, it has become easier to develop the app. If we take a look at the numbers, then in 2015 there were 15.41 billion IoT devices which have increased to 26.66 billion and are expected to surpass 75 billion by 2025.

Every smart element of the workspace (now, homes too) is related to the Internet of Things. This area of technology is quickly gaining importance and also creating a series of security risks.

The role of big data in IoT is to process a large amount of data on a real-time basis and storing them using different storage technologies. In the big data system which is basically a shared distributed database, the huge amount of data is stored in big data files.
