Furniture comprises movable objects that are intended to support human activities such as sitting, eating, working, and sleeping. Furniture is also used to hold objects at convenient access heights and storage locations. Furniture has a design component and it is considered a form of decorative art.

Cribs are used for protection and storage purposes. A baby crib is a bed with high sides, or slats, that is designed to provide a safe place in which a baby can sleep or play. Two other types of cribs are designed to store drying corn cobs and tools, respectively.

A bookcase, or bookshelf, is a piece of furniture with horizontal shelves, often in a cabinet, that is used to store books or other printed materials. Bookcases are used in private homes, libraries, offices and bookstores.
