High school science teachers and their best and brightest science students are invited to participate in the Forty-seventh Annual Pennsylvania Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, to be held March 20-22, 2011, at the Penn State University Park campus. The purpose of the symposium is to seek talented youth and to encourage the development of their scientific interests and abilities. Outstanding science students may present either a paper or poster or simply attend the presentation sessions. Scholarships will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place winners. The first- and second-place winners will be invited to present their papers at the National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. Lodging and most meals are paid by the Pennsylvania Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, so the registration fee is only $105 per student or teacher participant. Deadline to apply is February 4, 2011.

The Institute for Research and Policy on Acceleration (IRPA) is dedicated to the study and support of educational acceleration for academically talented students. We serve educators, parents, students, administrators, policy makers...in short, anyone with an interest in learning more about why and how academic acceleration works for meeting the needs of high-ability students.
