Annoying-ness...

I'm on the Joondalup line, and when the train I take in the morning gets in, it's usually 2/3 min til the Fremantle 8:07am train leaves, and I always have to run for it. Unfortunately, that train is the ONLY Fremantle line train I know of, that leaves either on time or (unbelievable as it may be) EARLY!!
The next train after that one is 10 MINUTES later, and that train is usually 5 minutes LATE.

    I hate the Fremantle line.

    Tell me about your problems.

This is the complaint that Kayley & I (mostly Kayley) wrote to Transperth one day:

To those whom it may concern,

Recently, the train timetables have been altered to assist with the introduction of new trains. Due to these changes, many people have been affected negatively- particularly those travelling on the Midland and/or Fremantle lines, such as school students attending Perth Modern School, Shenton College and John Curtin College of the Arts.

On the Midland, Fremantle, Armadale and Thornlie lines, the trains arrive every 10 minutes- and that's during peak hour. Stations like Meltham on the Midland line, which some express trains skip, only have trains stop every 20 minutes. A waiting time of 10 minutes is plenty of time for more and more passengers to accumulate at the station, resulting in trains being extremely crowded on those lines in the morning. A waiting time of 20 minutes could cause many passengers to arrive at work or school late.

One train that is often late is the train running from Perth to Fremantle at 8.17am, which most students take. I am constantly missing the 8.07am train by less than half a minute (despite running through the train station) because the C train on the Joondalup line, which I used to be able to take with no problems doesn't allow much time for changing trains. Therefore, I normally have to wait fifteen minutes or more for the next train, which got me to where I needed to go only just in time. Many people catch this train every weekday and they are all affected by this. It would be greatly appreciated if another train could be inserted between the 8.07am and 8.17am trains from Perth to Fremantle.

The gap between Friday night trains on the Joondalup line is also an issue I feel needs to be resolved. There is a train that goes from Perth to Clarkson at 9.15pm and a half hour gap until the next train at 9.45pm. This causes difficulties for people doing late-night shopping in Perth on Fridays and many people including teenagers working in the city at night. This problem could be rectified by inserting more trains in the gaps and ensuring that gaps are no longer than 15 minutes on Friday nights.

    Yours sincerely,
Some kids who had a lot of spare time.
