This article addresses some of our on line concerns about student readiness, motivation, self-regulation and persistence, all areas of interest as we move forward for on line work. Develops a concept called "productive persistence" and discussed how one establishes relevance of the class to academic goals. Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching is sponsoring this ongoing research. The entire website is amazing.
