It is alleged to have been invented only in the mid-18th Century by Dwight Lyman Moody (1837-1899), also known as D.L. Moody, an American evangelist and publisher . Prior to the "Sinner's Prayer", the Body of Christ survived for about 1800 years without it's inherent danger of promoting cheap grace. gfp
